“From lifelong acne to finally seeing real change”
I've had acne since I was 8 years old and honestly got to the point where I thought it was just something I'd have to live with forever. Over the years I'd tried so many things. I saw dermatologists twice, used prescription topicals, took spironolactone and spent a lot of money on online dermatologist skincare. Some things helped a little, but nothing really made a significant difference.
I was eventually told that Roaccutane was probably my next option, which I really didn't want to do. I also never fully understood why I was being offered hormonal medications when my blood tests kept coming back normal.
One of the biggest things I learned through this process was something I'd never even considered before, the connection between my PTSD and my skin. Nobody had ever helped me look at the bigger picture.

My skin was never really a problem before I moved house and started a new job at the same time. Even though it was a big life change, I didn’t actually feel stressed, I just felt excited. So I couldn’t understand why my skin suddenly started breaking out so badly.
I began getting large, painful spots under the skin that would take ages to heal. They also seemed to get worse around my period and ovulation, which made it even more frustrating.

When I first met Daisy, I was 4 years post-menopause and still experiencing many symptoms: I'd put on a stone and a half, was having light-headed spells several times daily where I felt dizzy when I stood up, my sugar cravings were out of control, my skin felt bumpy in places, I had mood swings, hair was coming out in clumps, I had exhausted crashes during the afternoons and my vagina was drier than the Sahara.
